Dear P.S. 335 Community,

It is with genuine excitement and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend my warmest welcome to each and every one of you as the new Interim Acting Principal of Granville T. Woods Elementary School – P.S. 335.

Allow me to introduce myself – I am Kathy Polight, and it is both an honor and a privilege to join this esteemed institution. My core values as the new principal are deeply rooted in four essential principles: Community, Academic Excellence, Respect, and Equity. These values are the guiding principles that will shape our path forward:

In our school, "Community" means that we are all part of a larger family, and we care for and support one another. It's about creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere where every student and staff member feels valued and included. We work together to make our school a place where everyone can thrive.

"Academic Excellence" is about always striving to do your best in your studies. It means setting high standards for yourself, working hard, and being curious. It's not just about getting good grades; it's about the joy of learning and constantly improving your knowledge and skills.

"Respect" means treating others the way you want to be treated. It's about being polite, considerate, and understanding towards your peers, teachers, and staff. Respecting differences in opinions, cultures, and backgrounds is also a big part of this value.

"Equity" is all about fairness and ensuring that everyone has the same opportunities and chances to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. It means recognizing and addressing any inequalities that may exist in our school community.

As we begin this new chapter together, I invite you to join me in embracing our core values. Together, we will create a learning environment that not only promotes academic achievement but also nurtures the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of every student.

My office door is always open, and I welcome your thoughts and feedback. Together, we will shape the future of P.S. 335 and provide our students with the outstanding education they deserve.

I look forward to getting to know each of you and working together to make P.S. 335 a place where every student thrives.

Warmest Regards,

Kathy Polight, Principal I.A.
